Ted Barone named AHS principal

The new AHS principal Ted BaroneOn Tuesday May 22nd, the Albany Unified School District Board of Education appointed Ted Barone as Albany High School’s new principal. Barone will be replacing Ron Rosenbaum, who announced his retirement on February 28th.

Barone comes to Albany High School from Burlingame Intermediate School where he served as principal. Previously, Barone was principal at Terra Linda High School in San Rafael, vice-principal at Balboa High School in San Francisco and assistant principal at A.P. Giannini Middle School in San Francisco.

Barone taught for 17 years prior to his 10 years as an administrator.
In a letter to the community, board member Charlie Blanchard stated, “Barone has a record as a leader in online communications, multimedia technology, collaborative decision-making among parents, teachers and students, and the use of standards and accountability to track student progress.”

Barone will officially begin work on July 1st, 2007 but may visit prior to the end of the school year.

He and his family live in Mill Valley, California.

Three elementary principals were appointed at the meeting as well. Lynda Hornada will be principal at Marin Elementary, Wendy Holmes at Cornell Elementary, and Terry Georgeson will return to the district as principal of Ocean View Elementary.
