On Wednesday, April 18th, the faculty at Albany High School volunteered to be “pied” by students to raise funds for AHS Leadership. Teachers including Valerie Risk, Jeff Castle, Marguerite Buck-Bauer, and Patty Fujiwara all willingly took the stand anticipating a barrage of whipped cream.
Little did they know, this year’s turnout for pie day would be less enthusiastic than that of last year. The crowd watching was almost non-existent.
The source of this year’s low outcome can be from a variety of reasons. Was it conflicting with club meetings? Was it the need to save money for prom accessories? Whatever the cause, the teachers still had a fair share of pies pitched in their direction.
Senior Nir Maoz wondered, “Maybe our teachers are getting too nice which makes us students not want to ‘pie’ them.”
Though this year’s pie day was less successful than last year, leadership raised some money and students still had a blast with the exhilarating feeling of throwing a pie at a teacher.
