Seniors and Juniors Dominate in Boys Volleyball Prelims

During lunch on Monday, October 6, the Albany High School gym was crowded with brightly colored twins cheering on their class in the Homecoming boys volleyball preliminary games.

On west side of the gym the sophomores challenged the seniors to a competitive and close match. The sophomores brought their “A” game but it wasn’t enough to put them in the finals. The class of 2009 won two games with scores of 12-7 and 12-10. The heat “got brought” during the final game when the teams were tied at 10. The sophomores played well but they had too many unforced errors, which made it impossible to bring down the seniors.

The junior class of 2010 may have gotten off to a rough start in their preliminary match, but they ultimately showed the freshmen that “they go.” The class of 2012 won the first game by two points, but then the juniors stepped it up and took down the freshmen with a stunning score of 12-4. The pressure rose during the final game as both teams fought for a place in the semifinals. The juniors showed their dominance and won the match as well as a place in the volleyball finals against the seniors on Thursday, October 9.
