Recap of the Arts Show

The Albany High Arts Department held its annual Visual Arts show on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Warm music and a large crowd greeted me as I walked into the multi-purpose room where the art show was held. A great assortment of art by Albany students was on display including: ceramics, photography, mixed media, painting and more.

Students and parents alike packed into the room to view students’ artwork from on throughout the whole year.

Senior Rustie Mcumber said about his expiriences in art, “art gives me something to do when I’m bored, and sometimes I come up with some pretty sweet stuff.”

New additions to the art show included a bake sale and art sale both benefiting the Arts Department. Students enjoyed the Free Expression Wall where everyone got to paint whatever they liked on a wall dedicated to the students. Junior Matthew Chang commented, “The art show really put on display the diversity and originality of the students Albany High. I especially enjoyed the depiction of the Tokyo Fish Market fish counter by Jason Lee.”

The art show was a great culmination of art created throughout the year by Albany High art students; their hard work has really payed off.
