The agenda packet for the Board of Education November 1, 2011 meeting was quite long — at 175 pages, it was nearly double the prior meeting’s packet (which came in at a measly 76 pages). Ironically, the meeting ended early.
This lengthy packet was primarily the result of the Single School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA). Well over 100 pages, the agenda included a plan from each school. Supporting the written documents were the principals of all six of the district schools, who were there to answer the (thankfully) few questions the Board had on the plans.
In addition to a review of the SPSAs, the Board viewed a presentation by Director of Student Services Marsha Brown regarding English learners in the district. A copy of the presentation is available at http://www.ausdk12.org/ourpages/auto/2011/6/16/41404595/11-1-11%20Packet.pdf.
Finally, at the close of the meeting, a reading of a revision to Administrative Regulation 6163.4 was conducted. Most notable among the revisions was the text, “Students shall be informed that computer files and electronic communications, including email, are not private and may be accessed by the district for the purpose of ensuring proper use.”
