If Albany Were a Number

It all comes down to number-crunching.

The state of California has recently released the Academic Performance Index scores for the 2009-2010 school year. A school’s API score is a single number ranging from 200 to 1000 that reflects the school’s performance on statewide tests. API scores are used to assess a school’s academic growth as they can be compared form year to year. The Albany Unified School District’s API score is up seven points from 864 to 871. All of Albany’s schools scored above the California state and Alameda County averages of 767 and 788, respectively, as well as the California sate minimum target of 800. Albany High School’s API score is up 14 points from 806 to 820.
