Homecoming Volleyball Preliminaries

Was anyone really surprised today at lunch when the classes of ’12 and ’13 completely dominated the volleyball courts?

Amidst roars of “They don’t want it!” and “one three, one three!”, the juniors quickly established a lead over the freshmen. The junior team was noticeably more coordinated and operated smoothly as a team.

Junior Michael Rabin had some spectacular saves, diving for the ball and preventing the freshmen from scoring.

Connor Davidson, Felix Gonzalez and Daniel Byun also played big parts in the victory.

The junior side of the court was awash in purple shirts and purple clothing, contrasting with the freshmen’s largely casual, noticeably less green side.

The juniors won the two games against the freshmen 12-4 and then 12-5.

Daniel Byun said “We started off kinda cocky, but in the end we brought it back and we’re going to do the same next week.”

The seniors had the upper hand in their match against the sophomores. Their first game resulted in a solid 15-3 senior victory, and their second game ended with a definitive win, 15-5.

According to senior Garrett Freeberg, “Overall, solid skills and team chemistry helped us to an easy win against a less experienced team. ”

The juniors will meet the seniors in next Thursday’s final.
