Food Eating 2010

Homecoming 2009 is going to be yucky, if Monday’s food eating contest is any indicator of how the rest of the week will go. Contestants from all the classes joined together in the amphitheater during lunch to munch on four different, disgusting courses.
The first course was a concoction of raw tofu, bananas and orange juice, blended together in a large Jamba Juice cup. A pair of competitors from each grade then worked together to drink every drop of the icky smoothie, using only a straw per partner, no hands allowed. Seniors finished first, followed by the sophomores, then the juniors, with the freshmen coming in last.

Next up was the salad, with chunks of raw tofu mixed in with greens, bell peppers, and mysterious red canned fish. Again, the contestants were not allowed to use their hands, instead diving face first into the second course. Juniors took first place, while seniors quickly took second. The sophomores and freshmen were left to duke it out, but the sophomores were ultimately disqualified from this round for moving their plate around.

For the main entrée, participants gulped down a jumble of mashed potatoes, mustard, eggs, Japanese plums, and sour gummy worms, once more with their hands behind their backs. Juniors won this round.

Finally came the not-so-tasty dessert: a vanilla cupcake with ranch dressing on top. Each team had to stand one behind the other, the person in back reaching around the person in front to grab the cupcake and feed it to the person in front. This time, seniors reclaimed the top spot, bumping juniors to second, and leaving sophomores last. Freshmen, unable to stomach the nasty dessert, left the table mid-contest in forfeit.

Soon afterwards, just as it was starting to rain, instead of the drizzle that had started during the last round, the final score was announced. In fourth place were the freshmen. Sophomores took bronze, and seniors got silver. Gold was awarded to the triumphant juniors, who immediately mobbed the amphitheater and began chanting “One, One!”
