India is a land full of different festivals. This week is Diwali, the festival of lights. It is celebrated all throughout the country. The festival of Diwali symbolizes unity and diversity, since each Indian state has their own way of celebrating it.
The celebration lasts for four days. The first day of the festival marks the vanquishing of the Demon by Lord Krishna and his wife. The second day is when the Lakshmi pooja (or ritual) is performed. People say that the Goddess Lakshmi is in her generous mood, and grants the prayers and wishes of her devotees. The third day is Kartika Shudda Padyami. On this day Lord Krishna rules the benefits given by Lord Vishnu. And lastly, on the fourth day the sisters of families are encouraged to invite their family members, especially their brothers, home to celebrate as a whole.
In the northern part of India people usually celebrate Diwali as Lord Ram comines home from his 14 years of exile after killing the villain Ravana., The Bengalis the people of the country Bangladesh, it’s the time of worshipping the Goddess Kali.
