Block B Schedule

General

1. “This is your last chance to give your opinions on school funding for
next year. Go to the Cougar Online and take the survey, or come by the
library and we will set you up. So far, only 43 students have responded.
Let your voice be heard.”

2. We will be having a meeting for all students interested in attending
the Close Up inauguration trip next January. We will be discussing our
fundraising plans. Please come if you are interested — it is not too
late to sign up! The meeting is Thursday May 15th at lunch in room 217.

3. A Student Ambassador from Berkeley City College will be visiting this
Thursday during lunch. The Ambassador will set up a table in the lobby
and be available to answer student questions and talk about any aspect
of BCC or the community college experience.

4. Congratulations are in order for students in the Albany High School
Choir program. All three choirs competed at the CMEA Regional Choir
festival held at CSU East Bay this past weekend. The newly formed Men’s
Choir and Women’s Choir received a rating of Superior, and the AHS
Chorale received a rating of Unanimous Superior! Great job to all of the
students.

5. BSAL Track & Field Champions, Talei Tagivakatini – Shot & Discus; Sam
Crowley — Discus; Keegan Richerson — 800 meters, All-League; Johanna
Jenkins — Shot & Discus; Courtney Collier — 100 hurdles; Kenley Lam —
High Jump & 4×100 relay; Scylore Miles, Lorenzo Morris & Charles Lewis
– 4×100 relay.

6. Congratulations to senior Camille Frausto and sophomores Emma Jackson
and Bori Ha! They won research awards in March at the U C Berkeley Model
U N Conference—but the conference organizers failed to notify them
until this week!

7. Today’s lunch menu: BRC Burrito, BBQ Chicken Pizza, Chicken Fajita
Salad, Deli Sandwiches

8. I-M Softball today: 2400 vs. Golden State Warriors

9. Seniors! Don’t forget Algebra 2 tutoring in room 312 lunch TODAY

10. Dance show on Friday, 5/16. Come see Dance 1 & Dance 2. Free!! 8:00
pm in the Little Theater.

College/Career

1. The Maris Family Opportunity Scholarship, new this year, will award
$500 to a graduating senior who will attend a community college,
vocational school, or four year college or university. The criteria may
include financial need, commitment to community service,
extra-curricular activities, special talents, and unique personal goals.
Students who have faced challenges and students with average G.P.A.’s
are encouraged to apply. Applications are in the Counseling Office, and
are due May 22nd.
