Block B Schedule
General
1. 10th graders: The California High School Exit Exam will be given to
all 10th graders NEXT WEEK. The English portion will be on Tuesday, Feb.
5, and the Math portion will be on Wedesday, Feb. 6. We will be on a
special schedule those two days. Testing will begin at 7:40 AM both
Tuesday and Wednesday. Testing locations will be posted in the Main Hall
lobby by next Monday, Feb. 4.
2. Calling all civic-minded volunteers: the City of Albany needs you!
They are looking for 10 students to help break down and clean up after
the Albany Centennial celebration on Saturday, February 23rd. Time:
5-6PM, Place: Veteran’s Memorial building. Come to the WorkAbility
office to sign up.
3. “Footloose” sneak Preview today January 30 during Advisory. If you
already signed up to see it come straight to the Little Theater (no need
to check with your Advisory teacher) and “Kick off your Sunday shoes!”
We’ll see you at the show!!
4. If someone found an iPod, please return to Ms. Salas in the bookroom.
Owner is offering a big reward, no questions asked.
5. Job Available — Right NOW!!! Get paid $11.00 an hour, cash, for
handing out flyers and putting up posters on Solano and throughout
Albany for the upcoming Lunar New Year Celebration, which happens on
Sunday, February 10th. Call Alan Cain at 527-5358 or 524-4447 ASAP if
you want to snag this great job! Limited time job; hours cannot be
guaranteed. If you have any questions, come see Sarah Pichler in the
WorkAbility office.
6. Music Fundraiser- Sunday Jazz Brunch at Downtown Restaurant – 2102
Shattuck Avenue Berkeley – February 3, 11:30-3pm (seating any time)
Entertainment provided by Albany Music Students. To reserve tickets call
558-6865. $35 for adults $20 for students
Clubs/Team Announcements
1. ORGULLO LATINO – TODAY – AFTER SCHOOL – Main Lobby – Dance practice
2. MODEL UN – TODAY. – LUNCH – RM. 18 – Mandatory for members going to
conference @ Cal.
3. PUBLIC ARTS – TODAY. – LUNCH – RM. 128 – we will continue to finish
the mural planning.
4. Mandatory Baseball players meeting Thursday, lunch, Rm. 315. – Do
work, let the big dog eat.
College/Career
1. Attention Seniors: are you interested in learning about any of the
following programs that will be offered at Laney College in the Fall:
Architecture, Biomanufacturing, Carpentry, Construction Management,
Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Environmental Control Technology, Graphic
Arts, Labor Studies, Machine Technology, Media Communication,
Photography, Welding Technology, Wood Technology, and more? If so, you
may join a field trip to Laney for their Vocational Education Day on
Wednesday, February 13th, from 10-12:30PM, with a free lunch. Please
come to the WorkAbility office for permission slips and details if you
are interested.
2. Seniors: Cash For College financial aid night is this Wed., 1/30 from
6:30-8:30 pm in the AHS Library. Get help with the FAFSA and Cal Grant
forms and you’ll have a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship!
