General
1. Albany Women’s Basketball takes on St. Patrick/St.Vincent at their
gym today. JV game at 5:30pm; Varsity game at 7pm. Go Cougars.
2. Join us today for the rematch of the season! AHS Boys Basketball team
will face St. Patrick’s at home. The last time we played them, we
shocked St. Pat’s, beating them by one point at the buzzer. The JV team
plays at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00. Wear your RED AND WHITE and show your
COUGAR PRIDE!!
3. Come cheer on your Men’s Varsity Soccer Team today @ Cougar Field vs
Piedmont. Let’s all show our Cougar Pride to our 1st place Men’s Soccer
team.
4. The Winter Ball is Saturday, Jan. 31, 8-12 midnight in the AHS gym.
Tickets/invitations sold at lunch time only outside the bookroom window.
$25, please have exact change (this makes the line go faster) or check
payable to AHS. You MUST have your dance agreement form completed before
you can purchase your ticket. Guest applications are due by Thursday,
Jan. 29th. You Must give to Ms. Woods in the attendance office for
approval before purchasing ticket/invitations for your guest. Picture ID
is required to enter dance, start looking for your student ID card NOW.

5. Sign up attendance office for the Blood Drive on January 30th, 8am to
2pm.
6. Student Productions presents Madness on Madrona Drive! Opening day
Thursday @ 7pm. in the Little Theater, $5 students & $10 adults.
Purchase tickets @ the door.
7. BUDGET ISSUES @ AHS!! Student/Faculty/Parent Discussion – Monday,
February 2 at the AHS Library, 6:45pm – PTSA Meeting (what’s up at AHS!)
7:20 PM – BUDGET discussion Join AHS students, parents, faculty &
Principal Ted Barone & Marla Stephenson, AUSD Superintendent. HEAR THE
OPTIONS & VOICE YOUR CONCERNS ABOUT PROPOSED CUTS.
8. Today’s lunch menu: Deli Sandwiches, Soup of the Day, Assorted Sushi,
Chicken Fajita Salad & Lasagna
College/Career
1. The Cash for College FAFSA Financial Aid Workshop is Thursday, 1/29,
6:30pm-8:30pm in the AHS Library. Seniors and Senior Parents, plan to
come to this workshop to learn about filling out the FAFSA (Free
Application for Federal Student Aid) and to begin the process of filling
it out on the spot. Families must fill out this form to apply for
financial aid for college. Attendance and filling out a workshop
evaluation form enters your name to win a $1,000 scholarship, chosen at
random just among AHS student attendees. Questions? See Ms. Sumberg in
the counseling office.
