Cross-Country League Results

Thursday was the Bay Shore Athletic League Cross-Country League Tournament at the Point Pinole Regional Shoreline. It was a warm and sunny day with a nice ocean breeze, perfect for running. All the teams in this league have been practicing since the summer, going to many meets and invitationals with the goal of being league champions.

This year, for the second time, St. Mary’s College High School won Boys Varsity league, in addition to winning all other races: FroshSoph, Girls and Boys Junior Varsity, and Girls and Boys Varsity. Following St. Mary’s was Albany High School, which placed second in all categories.

From Albany High in the FroshSoph race, sophomore Oscar Rodriguez had a wonderful finish, coming in first place in 11 minutes and 11 seconds followed by another Albany runner, sophomore Matt Blankinship. Also from Albany, junior Nolan Tonkyn placed third in 16 minutes and seven seconds for the three-mile varsity course.

The Varsity Girls race was outstanding. Spencer Moore from St. Mary’s broke the course record with 17 minutes and 43 seconds. Following her was freshman Suzanne Becker from Albany who finished in 19 minutes and 46 seconds.
