On a Saturday night by the Oakland Zoo, the 2009 Volleyball season came to an end, surely one of the team’s better seasons.
In their first round NCS game, the Cougars had the not-so-tough task of defeating El Molino. The Cougars did to El Mo, as they called themselves, what a cougar would do to Elmo. The Cougars won in straight sets, 25-13, 25-16, 25-14.
Nearly every serve was an ace, nearly every spike was untouched, and the Cougars were entirely untouchable.
Unfortunately, there was a role reversal in Albany’s second round game against Bishop O’Dowd. O’Dowd used their superior height to stifle the Cougar’s attack.
For the freshmen, Kyra Holt and Marin Gibson, it means the end of a stellar beginning as high school players. For sophomores and juniors Mckenzie Giblin, Audrey Irvine-Broque, Emma Marquez-Shaw, Sachika Yamaguchi, Sarah Dudas, and Sita Wong, it means a positive season to build upon next year. For the seniors, Amanda Mallard, Talei Tagivakatini, Kelsey Karawanny, Brianna Habu, and Emma Jackson it means the end of their Cougar careers.
The Cougars’ final record: 30-7.

nice to know it was by the Oakland zoo
she still be CAKIN. mmmmmmmm
I attached games from Pre-season through the end adn it was exciting to see the team knit together and build their game. The coaches did a great job to cultivate the team. I look forward to next season.
