Cougars Off to Rough Start

The stage was set and the lights were lit. The top-seeded Cougars, fresh off a senior night brewin’ of the St. Patrick Bruins, went into BSAL with high hopes. The higher ranked Cougars fell to the Salesian Pride.

The Albany Volleyballers seemed out of sync from the moment the game started, digging themselves into a 9-1 hole early in the first set. In the first two sets, the Cougars fell short and faced a 0-2 hole heading into the third set.

The Cougars got inspired in the third set and won easily but their fire was put out by a cascade of wetness from Salesian’s star player #12 Malina Terrell.

After the four-set loss Sophomore Mckenzie Giblin offered her thoughts, “Pretty much I feel like we didn’t come into the game mentally prepared at all. We just expected to win and for Salesian to just hand it to us which they didn’t.”

The Cougars are still in NCS and will find out their seeding this weekend. Unfortunately, they will not be getting as high a seed as they would like and most likely are playing the rest of their games on the road.
