Since its inception last year, the Cougar Cave has been instrumental in establishing a student fan base for Albany sporting events. The famed student section is known for taking the initiative required to bring representation for Cougar sports. Recently, The Cave came up with a new way to get involved: Cave Poker.
No, Cave Poker is not a school-sponsored poker tournament prior to sporting events. Cave Poker is a Facebook application of sorts. You join the group, and before each game, a task is assigned to all members of the group; “poke” a designated opposing player on Facebook, endlessly. It is a genius form of heckling that is just a click away.
Says one of Cave Poker’s creators Robb Silverstein, “We want to psyche out opposing players during game week.”
Cave Poker is an easy and fun way to get involved in school spirit. Just join the Facebook group titled “Cave Poker” and check daily to find out who the officers have assigned as their next victim.
The upcoming event is Albany’s basketball game against defending league champs Salesian on Friday, January 11 at 7.

o yeah, that’ll scare them
they should unblock facebook so we can show school spirit for our sports teams at school
sooo funny
Isn’t this pretty much harrassment?
you go ohad do your thang. keep writing them articles. you my hero bruh bruh
Yeah, go cougars! because facebook poking some kid is showing school spirit. Why not encourage students to actually attend the games, shout and cheer? I’m not suggesting that Cave Poker is a bad idea; but it’s not like you invented the fucking lightbulb.
Go Cougars, and Ohad.
Hey, did what exactly happened at the meeting at lunch today? Is the CAVE still a go go? Did Admin. go all psycho on you guys fo somethni?
the cave obviously encourages students to actually attend the games, shout and cheer. this is clearly not the main thing the cave does.
What good sportsmanship. I thought the main point of going to a sports game was to watch the teams play fairly?
