I took this photo of my front door as the sun started to set. What you see are the shadows and reflections of some lattice work surrounding my front porch. For this project we had to capture at least one set of patterns of transient subjects, or temporary ones. Shadows don’t last forever and so I’m glad I caught the light excellent at the time I did.

I really liked the way the sun reflected off the path making it look golden even though the weather that day had been pretty cloudy.

I shot this picture of my sister during golden hour for the Foreground Framing project. Very little Photoshop work went into the final image; what you see is essentially the original photograph.

I used a fast shutter speed to capture water spilling out of a cup. The water spilling out already looked like a whale, so I added an eye and a spout using the drawing tool on Photoshop.

What a Rush: Adventure Time

Club Rush was held Wednesday September 21st during lunch. There were around 40 clubs soliciting new members. Some new clubs include Habitat for Humanity, the Snowboarding Club, and the Body Positive group headed on by mental health coordinator Shelly Ball.

Overall, Club Rush was a great success that gave new students — as well as the entire student body — a chance to explore new opportunities and interests.

Solano Stroll 2011

What started off as your typical cloudy Albany summer day, turned out to be a fun-packed sunshine-filled day of strolling. The theme of the day was the “Unsung Heroes,” in remembrance of the 9/11 ten years prior.

The morning kicked off with the traditional parade down Solano.

The Mayor riding atop a firetruck was a highlight of the procession.

The Rhythm Bound vocalists chatting between tunes. The show was very popular with stroll goers.

Harvest Time at Monterey Market

Located on the corner of Monterey Ave. and Hopkins St., Monterey Market is a North Berkeley tradition. It is owned by the Fujimoto family, whose mission is ”to provide good fruits and vegetables in season”. They support local farmers and are dedicated to fresh produce at great prices. It is the perfect place to appreciate the tastes of fall.

Monterey Market is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. Go and discover the bounty of the season for yourself.

Have you ever been strolling down the hallways of Albany High School, feeling confident in your new Abercrombie jeans, about to go show yourself off to your first period class, when you see some random freshman wearing the same ones? On any given day at AHS, your shine is bound to be stolen by a fellow classmate copying your style.

Noticing the many duplicated styles around Albany, Scarlett was reminded of People Magazine’s popular feature, Fashion Faceoff, in which celebrities committing the sinful faux pas of wearing the same outfit are compared to one another to determine: who wore it better? Inspired, we consulted our expert team of stylists to decide who wore the following outfits better.
