Breaking Newsflash; Obama takes Wyoming, and Rasmussen polls on who you’d like answering the phone…

In the first contest since Super Tuesday two, Obama handily won the Wyoming caucus 59% to 40%. Wyoming, which has less Democrats (and people) than any other state, had a record turnout, with about 7500 people showing up to vote. The victory is expected to give Obama a 7 delegate to 5 margin in the state. Clinton had a strong showing along the border of South Dakota, one of the few states that hasn’t voted yet.

Also, quick note. While many are chalking up Hillary Clinton’s upturn in poll numbers to her “Ghostbusters” ad, where she paints herself as the candidate more capable to deal with a crisis, Rasmussen Reports polls show that 44% of Democrats would prefer Obama answering a call during a national security crisis, 34% would want Clinton answering that call, and 13% would prefer McCain. Among all voters, 42% say they would want McCain answering that phone call, with 25% preferring Obama and 25% saying Clinton. The same polling cycle shows Obama with an extant but dwindling 7 point lead in North Carolina, while Clinton has a 15 point lead in Pennsylvania.

One thing that is a disturbing trend that shows that the party is being torn apart is that just 49% of Obama supporters in North Carolina would vote for Clinton against McCain if she were the nominee. Just 67% of Clinton supporters would vote for Obama against McCain. Especially if Clinton were the nominee, it appears a Clinton/Obama ticket would be the only way not to irreparably damage the party.
