Notes from AUSD School Board Meeting held on December 16, 2008.

Charlie Blanchard has retired from School Board after serving four and a half years. New member, Patricia Low will be joining the board.

Early Bird/ Late Bird
Student’s whose family members are affected by the Late Bird schedule that has officially been proposed by the School Board, please attend the school board meeting and voice opinions or be informed.

The next school board meeting will be held on January 6th, 2009.

News from AHS Leadership Class:

AP Comp Gov
IIC representatives are discussing changing the AP Comparative Government curriculum  to two semesters, eliminating the second semester of World Religions. Comp Gov teacher, Kevin James, has expressed concern over condensing a year’s worth of material into one semester.

Appropriate Dancing
PTSA Committee representatives are discussing what “appropriate dancing” is for school dances. We encourage student voices about this topic. Please contact the leadership class for more information.

Advisory Representatives
Leadership has decided to have a closer knit relationship with advisory reps and allow more active student voices. Advisory Reps will be notified with current events by the leadership class biweekly.

Bell Schedule
The school is exploring new bell schedules, which among often things could result in a later start time. Students concerned about this issue should attend IIC meeting held the second week of each month at 5:00 pm in the library. The next meeting will be January 12th.
