If you missed it, you missed out. Rhythm Bound and Jazz Band rocked Ashkenaz last Friday and have already been asked to do it again. It was Jazz Band’s first performance of the year, and they came out strong in their big debut.
But Rhythm Bound just blew the minds of everyone after the intermission. Students from Albany and elsewhere were immediately encouraged to dance, and no one had to tell them twice. Even some middle school kids got up to move their feet. The entire set was fast paced and loud, capped-off by an encore of “Proud Mary.”
Marty Price, a long-time Ashkenaz-goer and an Albany High history teacher, could barely contain his exuberance, “I Loved Rhythm Bound. I just couldn’t keep from getting up and dancing. David Nadel (Ashkenaz’s founder) would be proud to see this kind of thing happening in the community.”
Both students and teachers agree that the show was worth every penny, and should be resurrected later this year.
