Albany ties St. Joe’s 0-0

Senior Megan Moss dribbles past a St. Joe's defenderOn Friday December 1, at 3:30 p.m. the Lady Cougars varsity soccer team was at Cougar Field ready to fight and win. Sophomore Kylie Fisher-DeHart (right defense) was back after being out due to a broken nose, and team Captain, Senior Megan Moss (forward), had the team motivated and ready to play. The opponent was St. Joseph High School in Alameda.

Albany had a 0-2-0 record against St. Joseph last year. The pressure was on and the game soon turned intensely competitive. Moss was double-teamed in the first half, and triple teamed in the second half. The pressure the Cougars were putting on the Pilots was too much for them to handle, and the girls on the other team began to get physical. This happens often in soccer. Junior Jackie Quinn (center mid) drew a foul late in the second half of the game. After many intense struggles near the goal, and many close shots, the game ended with a very unsatisfying 0-0. Let’s hope that in the next home game against the Piedmont Highlanders the Cougars can show what they are really made of. Go Lady Cougars! Come support the team next Friday at Cougar Field at 3:30 p.m. Hope to see you there!
