Auto theft suspect arrested on AHS Campus

lockdownJanuary 24 – The Cougar has removed the photo of the suspect on the advice of Albany High School.

January 22

2:25 — Cougar staff photographer Eddie Gordon got this [Ed. note: now removed] photo of the suspect from within the school’s main office. Principal Barone has said that the suspect is not a student at Albany High. The Cougar will follow up with information from Mr. Barone and the police tomorrow.

2:09 — We now have word that a man entered the school, walked through the second floor corridor, then ascended to the third floor before being apprehended by police. The man is suspected of stealing a car, and is now in custody of the Albany Police.

1:58 — We have been given the all-clear. Classes are now resuming. We do not yet know what happened, and will continue to update this story as we learn more. This occured during the sixth period final.

1:46 — At approximately 1:20 pm Principal Barone announced over the school loudspeaker a Code Red alert. A Code Red alert requires that all students stay in their classrooms and for teachers to lock the doors. At this time, we know little else, as this journalism classroom is currently locked down as well. We will update this story as new information arises.
