After five long years of dedication and tremendous work, the Albany women’s varsity volleyball team can finally call themselves ruling champions.
Last Friday, the Cougars traveled to Piedmont and brought home the pennant as BSAL champions. They beat Piedmont in three quick games and did not allow the Highlanders to get more than 20 points in each game.
Senior volleyball star Glasha Marcon explained, “We played clean and together. Every person took care of their job.”
First place is exceptionally rewarding to the team after their tiresome history of being knocked out in the playoffs for the past five years.
Although the volleyball season is wrapping up, fans can come cheer on their favorite players this Saturday at 7:00 pm. The team will be competing at home against Analy High School for a spot in the NCS semi-finals.
Good luck to Varsity volleyball team and go Cougars!
